In order to meet customers’ request and to help solve the problems faced in front of customers from the more and more strict environmental protection rules, GN Solids Control designed and put into market a comprehensive design for the oily sludge separation unit, and now GN Solids Control is leading in this industry.
In recent 3 years, GN Solids Control has customized several sets of similar systems, and such systems are being used in many different countries both in domestic China and overseas. It is widely used for treating the discharged slurry and sands from crude oil tank cleaning, oily waste discharged from refineries, and the viscosity oily waste from solids control for oil and gas drilling. It helps to reduce the cost for waste transportation and oil recycle, and gained good comments from under users.


A complete system is combined by several sections:
1. Pre heating and pre mixing system. In this system, a mixing tank with heating facilities are being employed. A chemical dosing system is used for adding some polymer or something else into the oily sludge and heating is used for reducing the viscosity. Later, the sludge is to be treated by a shale shaker, by which the large particles are separated out.
2. A high speed decanter centrifuge is used in next step for treating out the fine particles from the liquid. Floating unit is kind of oil water separation, and the light of weight oil will float on surface of liquid and it would be scraped out to an oil tank. The settled down particles would be drained from bottom of the IPC unit.
3. A disc centrifuge is used to separate out the small amount of particles from the liquid, and further separate the oil from water. Then the water flows into the water tank, while oil flows into the oil tank.
In the complete system, by using the complicated manifold and valves, the end user can bypass or invite into loop some equipment based on the sludge’s condition.

What’s the different between the economic mud recycling system and the high configuration mud recycling system?

Normally, the economic recycling systems are used for Bored Pile or TBM Drilling works, in such works, the requested standard is not so high comparing with HDD systems. So there is normally no mixing system for this system, just separating step is OK. In GN’s design, the 2 separation steps are designed in a compact equipment, which is combined of desander cones and a double deck shale shaker. The lower deck is used as the first separation shale shaker, which is used to delete the particles larger than 100 microns. The upper deck shaker is used like the drying shaker of the desander. For the second separation step, the particles larger than 40 microns are separated out.

What capacities available?

In order to serve the customers’ need quickly and well, GN designed standard models for the most common capacities, like 200GPM, 500GPM and 1000GPM, with GN models respectively GNMS-200D, GNMS-500D and GNMS1000D.

Tunnelling project has turned to be more and more popular . We just did 2 separation plant with 250 M3 per hour and 400 M3 per hour treating capacity to HK in last Dec. which have turned out to be very good working performance there .

Separation plant breif introduction

A separation plant will be including shale shaker , mud cleaner or desander & desilter, mud agitator , mud tank and mixing system with jet mud mixer . The solids content is always very high and the large particals and fine solids always changes depending on different earth conditions . Based on it’s rough and wide range of mud conditions , the separation plant need to meet a wide application to suit the rig different of drilling conditions.
