Each drilling rig need a complete set for drilling fluids clarification system. Such system can reduce the discharge of waste, for one thing, it can help with recovery of as much as drilling fluids, for second thing, the dried discharged solids are easier to be transported. Those functions seem more important in offshore projects than in land rigs.
For separation performance, there are not so many differences between the land rigs’ and the offshores’, but there are some more requests for offshores because of the off-land locations and the limited space. Normally, the solids control system for offshores should be better more compact, providing same capacity, and meanwhile, it has quite strict limit on total weight and quite high standards on lifting parts. For example, most of offshore components are requested to have DNV certificate designs or at list DNV certified lifting parts.
For this offshore project, GN Solids Control has provided to the client following equipment:

  1. One set of shale shaker. Shale shaker is one of GN’s core products. Each year, GN makes and sells more than 200 sets of shale shakers, some with 2 pcs of screens, most of 3 pcs of screens, while some using 4 pcs screens.
  2. One set of mud cleaner. With a compact design as combination of desander and desilters, mud cleaners are more and more popular than the single desander or desilters.
  3. Centrifugal degasser. This kind of degasser occupies smaller footprint than traditional vacuum degassers.
  4. GNLW Decanter centrifuge, as the 4th phase of separation equipment. It is a 18 inch big bowl decanter centrifuge.
