GNZCQ vacuum degasser’s purpose is to eliminate the gas in the drilling fluid, and the processing capacity of the gas can be achieved. Degasser must be placed before the desander’s feeding pump in processing drilling fluid because drilling fluid with gas, centrifugal pump the occurrence of cavitations.  The cavitations is not only the decrease  performance of the pump but also the noise and vibration, shortened life expectancy, and will make the pump not working.


There are two points in the function of the degasser:

  1. To ensure the performance of the drilling fluid is stable, to prevent gas explosion accident, to ensure the safety of drilling.
  2. To ensure the normal operation of the hydrocyclones for desander and desillter. In deep drilling wells, gas wells and gas oil wells, the drilling rig must be equipped with degasser.

Three types of degasser:

  1. Vacuum degasser: its work principle is, with vacuum pump suction for drilling fluid, after flocculated flow film isolated gas, again by the vacuum pump pumping out. This type of gas removal effect is work very well and the treating volume is larger, more cumbersome.
  2. Atmospheric pressure type gas removal device: the main parts of machinery is the centrifugal pump and injection tank. The gas invasion of drilling fluid sent to the spray tank by centrifugal pump and in the tank to form high speed thin layer and the rejection to the inner wall of the tank causes the gas to rupture, separate and discharge.
  3. The centrifugal degasser is composed of motor, pump, gear box. It is a new kind of machinery to separate the gas from the separation principle of the decanter centrifuge.

One of Russian largest oil Exploration Company visited GN Solids Control factory days ago. They are very satisfied with GN Solids Control production capability and workmanship. During the visit they signed a contract with GN. This contract includes decanter centrifuge, mud cleaner and vacuum degasser.

GN Solids Control’s new model optimized decanter centrifuge has a better performance. For the VFD model the VFD control cabinet adopt PLC control with smart touch screen. The structure of the centrifuge is optimized to have reliable performance. We have both high configuration and economic configuration centrifuges for option. Our high configuration centrifuge can compete with US famous brand like Swaco and Derrick. Even our economic configuration centrifuge is better than domestic competitors.

GN Solids Control has just come back from the CIPPE held in Beijing from March 19th-21st, 2014. This year on the exhibition we received an inquiry from an Indian customer of mud system for 100MT capacity work-over rig . This customer has bought a 500GPM hydraulic jack up system from us 2 years ago also on the CIPPE.

This time this customer needs 2 mud tank insulated tanks total capacity of 300 bbls, have hopper installed. Active Suction mud pits with agitator and jetting gun. Active intermediate tank 2 partition 100&150 bbls, 10HP agitators, jetting gun. Shale shaker tank 250 bbls. Pill/slug tank, slopping bottom, dump valve. Trip tank 25bbl with alarm & strip chart recorder. Mud gas separator, Degasser and shale shaker.

According the requests, we reduce the tank numbers by separating different functioning  compartments. This will also make the mud system more compact. We offered the customer a 2 tank mud system with each tank size 12192x2438x2400mm. The first tank is called shale shaker tank with net capacity of 313bbls. We separate it into 3 compartments. The first compartment is trip compartment installed with a mud gun. The second one is shale shaker compartment with 2 shale shakers and the last compartment is degasser compartment with a vacuum degasser and a mud agitator.  A 11kw centrifugal pump is used for the trip compartment. The second tank we separate it into 2 compartments. One is active intermediate compartment and the other one is pill/slup compartment. The first compartment has a capacity of 180blls installed with mud agitators and mud guns. The second compartment is with a capacity of 95bbls installed with 2 hoppers and mud agitator and mud gun. 2 55kw centrifugal pump used for hoppers.

Vacuum Degasser as a second  stage cleaning equipment is mainly use to remove gas immerged in mud. It is usually fixed after shale shakers. Vacuum degasser ensures proper mud weight pumped down well to prevent potential blowout in drilling. It’s a very important equipment in degassing process. So what is the differences between world famous brand Derrick Vacu-Flo Degasser and GNZCQ270 Degasser?

Derrick Vacu-Flo degassers have a more efficient vertical tank design than traditional horizontal degassers, offering over 217% more surface area than alternative designs. This additional capacity results in no increase in vessel size, tank space requirements, unit weight, or reconfiguration of pit arrangements. A 5 HP vacuum pump, capable of pulling 29” Hg, draws mud into the degassing chamber where decreased pressure causes gas bubbles to surface from the fluid more rapidly. A stacked, corrugated fiberglass leaf arrangement and multiple feed ports provide higher fluid impact, thinner layers of mud dispersion, and greater turbulence for more efficient gas removal. Derrick’s Vacu-Flo degassers offer convenient access to the leaf assembly and float mechanisms (without having to remove the vessel lid) through an oversized access door. GNZCQ Series Vacuum Degassers are able to service the needs of any application. Unlike the traditional vacuum degasser, GNZCQ vacuum degasser is a self-contained unit. The gas-cut mud is drawn into the degasser by a vacuum created by a regenerative vacuum without needing centrifugal pump .Moreover, GN degasser can act as a big agitator for the drilling mud, which helps the treatment for desander and desilter.
