Vertical and horizontal centrifugal pump

Centrifugal pumps are some of the most common pumps on the market. This type of pump is highly efficient at transferring fluid over a wide range of pressures and flows. The only difference between horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps is shape. The choice between using a horizontal centrifugal pump or a vertical centrifugal pump is usually based on convenience and save foot print.

In drilling fliuids processing system, there will be vertical centrifugal pump also horizontal centrifugal pump according to different solids control equipments position requirement.

Vertical centrifugal pump brief info

The vertical centrifugal pump is the installation or fixing type. It means the pump and motor are on a vertical line. The motor axis linked directly to the pump. This will save more space or foot print. The vertical centrifugal pumps offer a simple, and an efficient alternative to end suction

The vertical centrifugal pumps are easily and inexpensively installed, since they require no foundation or pedestal. Only standard piping supports on the side of the pump are needed. Vertical centrifugal pump discharge flanges are on a common center line for easy installation into an existing pipe line.

Vertical centrifugal pumps have many mounting options because of their long slender design. Many models of both types of pumps have suction and delivery connections. Most centrifugal pumps are made out of cast iron or other hard metal materials.

Detailed convenience on vertical centrifugal pump

Vertical centrifugal pumps are available with either packing or a mechanical seal. When packing is utilized , a two-piece gland is provided for easy removal and packing installation. The mechanical sealed pump can be converted to packing in the field.

The vertical centrifugal pumps also provide users flexible installation and the transit. It is more compacted and portable. If users do not have more space or sufficient vessel for drilling mud or other fluids the vertical centrifugal pump will require less height and pressure than the horizontal centrifugal pump on land level. The submersible sand pump is one kind of vertical centrifugal pump

Vertical centrifugal pump other features

Vertical centrifugal pumps are almost same with horizontal centrifugal pumps except the shape. They mainly use cast iron as pump main body material. And the seal is usually mechanical seal. Furthermore, used in drilling mud solids control processing will always as transition device or power provider for the drilling fluids

Choose vertical centrifugal pump or horizontal centrifugal pump depend on clients actual situation or their preference.
